I've never played a game that scared me more than this. Any time I was in open water and couldn't see where I was going, I was ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ my pants. Besides how terrifying this experience was, I thoroughly enjoyed it. Despite the fact the game is twelve years-old, the graphics are stunning and every single location is crafted to perfection. The sea life you encounter is full of variety and quite intelligent, especially the Warpers. The base building system if fairly in-depth and the vehicles available for creation all serve their niche perfectly. I personally found the cyclops to be the most enjoyable to operate. There is a story and I think the writers did a fine job with it. It's nothing too crazy, but there is a solid narrative which is more than I can say for some other titles. Just as a sidenote: I LOVE the alien structures you can find throughout the game. They remind me heavily of Forerunner architecture from the Halo series, so props to whoever designed them. Achievements are quite easy with most of them just tied to the story, but there are two missables. One involves release a cuddlefish you've hatched from an egg. There's five in the game I believe, so just look up a spot where you can find one. SPOILER:
The second one involves releasing a time capsule. When you build the rocket, make sure to create one before you launch. As you launch and finish the game, the capsule will be ejected.
I refuse to suffer alone, so everyone should play this beautiful game.
recommend to others; good balance of exploration, resource gathering, lore, crafting and puzzle solving.
Aboat this game: It's crazy how deep it is. There is an ocean of possibilities. Glad I didn't crumble under all that pressure. No, I dived right in and sunk so many hours into this game. Ok, I will for shore stop now. And sea myself out. Buoy!
One of the most memorable games I have ever played. Subnautica manages to be scary despite honestly being relatively easy and empty, yet there's always a primal fear in the back of my brain when I play.
The early game is truly phenomenal, and it's by far the best underwater survival game to date. However, the mid-game is a little slow, and the late game is just an unbearable grind. It's worth playing, just be weary that it drops off very hard past a certain point.
Game seems fun until it closes all by itself and you discover there is no auto save and you just lost HOURS!!!
Probably a great game but not having a normal save system with multiple save slots is horrible design decision. I got 3 crashes. First time I've lost 5 hours of progress. This was the moment I've noticed there is no auto-save at all. Highly disappointed, next day I've gave it a try, this time trying to save every time I was leaving the base. Got two crashes when coming back to base from the mission. Currently, I have no patience to try again and again. For me, experience was disappointing.
I hate paying employees so i support Krafton in all their endeavours!
