  • i am surprised this game can run on my lap top and have stolen 1067 hours of my life already... really love to build stuff and make people not really into the gameplay itself sims2 had better gameplay but the building and people making part is better for sims 4 <333

  • The Sims 4 is essentially a game in which you spend four hours setting up a family, two hours building a house, and then only thirty minutes playing the game before you decide that your Sim should go through a tragic storyline for no apparent reason. The game is in fact a lot of fun. You're able to construct houses, create Sims, assign them jobs, damage their relationships, and generally take a hands-on approach to the lives of people who have no notion of what you're doing to them. The range of possibilities is quite ridiculous. Even so, mods and CC are essentially a must if you want the game to reach its full potential; the vanilla Sims 4 is similar to ordering a burger and receiving only the bun, while the mods and custom content are equivalent to the meat, cheese, fries, and dubious sauce that you didn't realize you needed. The main drawback is the situation with the downloadable content. There is so much DLC that it would make your bank account sue you for restraint. When you look at the store, you immediately start to wonder why a virtual washing machine has to cost money. By this stage, I believe my Sims have more expansion packs than I have real furniture. The game does have some decent moments; for example, the Sims will randomly loiter about doing nothing, cancel the action you have specifically instructed them to carry out, fight someone that they are said to love, and then go outside to complain about being cold even though they are wearing a winter coat. And somehow I still keep coming back. 8/10. I'd recommend it, provided that you're willing to download 47+ mods, 300+ pieces of CC, and then spend the whole of one evening sorting out all the problems following an update.

Negative

  • EA has added ads in game and canceled sims 5 to keep pushing paid dlc on a 12 year old game

  • EA sold out to human rights abusers and is no longer a public company. if you REALLY want the dlc, anadius mirrored unlocker is still available. otherwise keep your money to spend it on a better game, the dlc arent worth the huge price tag anyway

  • Sept 2026 - I would not recommend The Sims 4 to a new player. I'm sad to say it. I own most of the DLC and I have played 6,000 hours. I love the scenery. I loved playing legacy families. About a year and a half ago I saw an increase in bugs and reported them. Staff announced Quality of Life updates and I supported it. But every Laundry List fix creates more gameplay issues. **Problems with autonomy - player actions deleted in queue. Hard to work on wants, aspirations and family needs when the sim stops the player actions to go randomly "Troll the Forums" on computer. **Lag - Sims freeze and the time clock continues. While frozen their needs keep deteriorating. Resetting object sometimes does nothing. Or it works and wipes the queue. Constantly starting actions over. I have so many workarounds! I used to play without cheats. Can't do that anymore. Learn when to exit without saving so your file doesn't get corrupted. **Major parts of the packs are not working as advertised. Adventure Awaits - getaway glitch corrupts save causing the timing / moon phases to not change, sims don't go to work, children don't go to school. Exit, no save! Life & Death - rebirth bug & funerals activities bugged Weddings - select Polished for the event and sims show up wearing whatever. Guests won't stay seated, stand in the aisle. Guest autonomously removes the cake before everyone eats. Married sims become unmarried autonomously. Played sims marry NPC on auto. (settings on default should not happen to played sims) Family tree changed parent. Business & Hobbies - Last week new problem with the custom tattoo screen. Ended my tattoo business. **Devs communicate on Discord more than on EA Forum. If the game improves and DLC works I'm happy to update the review.
