Project Zomboid is the ultimate in zombie survival. Alone or in MP: you loot, build, craft, fight, farm and fish in a struggle to survive. A hardcore RPG skillset, a vast map, massively customisable sandbox and a cute tutorial raccoon await the unwary. So how will you die? All it takes is a bite..

install game, install mods, launch, find out youre missing mods, repeat process, finally launch a run, play, die, repeat, uninstall and play again after half a year. W game, love it. I, Will, Always, Come, Back.
Project Zomboid is one of those games where you make your own fun. I usually live out of a van, stock up on guns and ammo, and move from town to town looking for supplies and trouble. I have no problem firing guns and attracting hordes — dealing with the mess you just created is half the fun. Add bandits and suddenly you have armed NPCs to worry about too, which makes things even more unpredictable. There’s always something to do: explore, work on cars, clear towns, collect weapons, build a base or just stay mobile. I’ve never really felt the need to sit at home waiting for the game to give me a reason to leave. It’s a sandbox, so a lot of the progression comes from whatever you decide to do. If I needed the game to constantly give me quests and tell me what to do next, I’d probably be playing something else. Hundreds of hours in and I’m still finding new ways to get myself killed. That’s kind of the point. This is how you died.....
The game is very good and fun with friends. please add sex too the game.
LOVE THE GAME, HATE THE DEV
Has the best mechanics of any zombie survival game and will hands down take up more of my time to come. There is a learning curve and you will consider refunding the game. It is not the game it is your fault. you're running too much and making bad choices. The game is so realistic that you need to think through your actions and plan ahead every step of the way. Love the game BUT This game is nothing without the moding community. This game will never come out of early access because they want to continue using the excuse of an early access game when they release unfinished updates. There may be an actual update once every 2-4 years, and it will feel like christmas and take the internet over for a short while, but it will have so many bugs that you will have to wait another year or so for the dev to fix the broken game. In that time mods will come out and you will rely on them and the dev wont fix any real issues but your mods will still be broken For those commenting, I have attached my specs now. I do not claim to have the best PC in the world, but with a setup like mine, the optimization for the game is lackluster. A game with these graphics suffers from poor optimization. it has been out for OVER A DECADE it has no excuse.
I know, I know. "600+ hours and you're voting no on recommending this game?" Sure, take that data point however you want. Build 42 is an unstable mess. Delivered years behind schedule by a team that makes huge promises they can't deliver, and still in a barely playable state. I'm posting this review after spending 20+ hours running a hosted multi-player rife with bugs, finally culminating in a game that crashed on load every time. This is with zero mods installed, an AMD Ryzen 7 9800x3d, and 32gb of RAM. After fifteen years of development it's really unacceptable that the base game is still in this state. Constant desync issues, lag, zombie target stuttering, vanishing vehicles, disappearing clothes, animation glitches that lead to player death (I've played hundreds of hours, I know the difference between a glitch and a skill issue). I'm even going to ignore the fact that Build 42 turned the "tedium simulator" aspect of the game up ten notches, because that's more subjective than the basic level this review is getting at. The game is too buggy to be reliable, and therefore too buggy to be enjoyable. It's been fifteen years. Fix your ****.
Buggy, and I understand its supposed to be see how long you live, but why can't it have a save feature. Like if I want to play and not have to start a new guy every time why can't I. Randomly dropped dead from bleeding out despite no inquires, couldn't stop it died and no way to fix it other then start new. One of the better survival zombies, but the game just feels like it hates it players and wants to punish them and waste their time.
the game is good the devs are toxic. horrible community management.
