Tried this game as an absolute shmup beginner and fell in love <3 It has a really nice difficulty curve, lots of different modes and ship configurations to play around with and a banger soundtrack :)

On the very short list of best post-Cave shmups. Nails the important stuff right with the action and encounter design, the break system is a strong innovation, and it smartly incentivizes score play even while playing for survival. Feature rich modern package with training mode, mission mode and a plethora of options.

My absolute favorite SHMUP. For me it's the way you can optimize Scoring. Flourishing at the right time, learning the breaks, optimizing everything. It also has Missions that are incredible and has plenty of cool unlockables...great stuff for a guy into Challenge Modes on Fighting Games. Recently I've come across Sophstar, Gunvein, and Graze Counter GM and those are the only possible competition to this right now. Oh, and the art style is incredible, and the most unique I've seen in a shmup. Music is peak.
