Honestly, I sometimes look at certain games and just call them “friendslop” and move on. A lot of the time, it feels like not enough thought has gone into the mechanics, or mechanics that could have been really fun end up becoming frustrating because they were developed too quickly. How to Fish is the complete opposite of that. It is especially obvious that a lot of effort went into the combat system. It is so satisfying that, if they pushed it a little further, I honestly think they could have made a genuinely fun FPS game as well. As far as I know, the developers are currently working on an FPS mode, so I am really curious to see where that goes. The game has a very simple design, and by “simple” I definitely do not mean easy. They have done a really good job of simplifying mechanics that could otherwise become extremely complicated and massively increase the scope of the game. Combined with the satisfying combat, this made it one of the friendslop games I genuinely had a great time playing. I also really liked the progression system. Waiting for special fish, unlocking new weapons, upgrading them, and then having the extra motivation of unlocking skins creates a surprisingly satisfying loop. It is a simple system, but it gives you plenty of reasons to keep playing. The boss fight designs are another great addition on top of all of this. The only thing I feel the game is missing right now is content, and I assume that will be added over time. As a designer, I really want to congratulate the team for coming up with the idea and, more importantly, executing it so well. I genuinely enjoyed playing this. I hope you guys keep making games!
I typically don't play this style of game but it was fun, not very long but fun! I played it solo because I am older and do not have many people to play with and still had a lot of fun and I will probably play through it again.
I honestly didn’t expect to enjoy this much. There’s just something really satisfying about catching fish and slowly figuring things out as you play. I also really like how chill the whole game feels. You can just sit back, fish, explore a bit, and enjoy the game without it constantly throwing stuff at you. One of the funniest things was being able to revive your friend by literally slapping them. It’s such a stupid little thing, but it had me laughing every time. It’s simple, but that’s probably what I like about it the most. Definitely a fun little game that I’d recommend if you just want something relaxing to play.
My friend killed us both with dynamite and I lost everything betting on green. This game is perfect.
The grinding is tedious and becomes a chore after a while. Also, after spending over $6k preparing for the bird boss battle, the game glitched and the bird was invisible. It's just annoying to play after a certain point.
fun game till the lava island.
Cant play more, its so ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ boring
I liked the game at first but it's way too short, only takes a few hours to beat
