goated game with heavy lore. I mean Joe M. Dash was really a stepping point for this community
An easy game where all you do is click to jump ;)
Honestly, I think it's a really great game. I highly recommend it. I know you might get bored quickly at first; I didn't play much initially and actually stopped for a year. But then I came back and got totally hooked, clocking in about 200 hours in just a few weeks. It’s great for honing your reflexes. You might struggle with the level "Dash" at the start, but after playing for a few more days, you’ll be tackling something like "IspyWithMyLittleEye," and a few days after that, you’ll be trying to beat "Blackfire Backfire." From there, you just keep improving until you're really good.
Fun game. As you can tell by my play time, (unless it changes, if so my playtime was about 15 hours when this was posted) I have not played a lot and as of now I have only beat everything up until cycles. Even if my view of the game changes, I doubt my feeling about it would change either. Its a fun, engaging, and rage inducing experience the whole way through.
The developer of this game has some serious issues that need to be fixed. The lack of child safety in this game is absolutely criminal and something needs to be changed
I will start off by saying that, this game is good in of itself. It's simple to get into, it's addicting and it's satisfying. The game is very much driven by community-made content, whether it be user created levels or mods through the 3rd party Geode mod loader, so no matter when you buy the game, there will always be something to do in it and something to look forward to. The biggest problem is the man behind the game itself, RobTop. He is, without any exaggeration, the most incompetent, arrogant, egotistical game developer I have ever seen. This man does not know how to lead a project. Back then it wasn't as bad: the game was much smaller than it is right now and so was the community. There were regular major updates every year, but as both the game and the community grew, so did the game's ambitions. Update 2,0 was a turning point for Geometry Dash, Each major update would now add much more content into the game, but as a result of that, game updates would start to be overfilled with features and take much longer to come out. For reference, the time period between the 1.0 release and update 2.1 was 5 years. Update 2.2 was supposed to be a relatively small update to the game. Surely it wouldn't take long to get from 2.1 to 2.2, right? It took SEVEN WHOLE YEARS. And the worst part? IT'S NOT EVEN FINISHED AFTER TWO YEARS OF IT BEING OUT! THERE ARE STILL FEATURES LOCKED AWAY AND ICONS THAT YOU JUST CAN'T OBTAIN! Right now the game is getting some support through minor minor updates, but even those take longer to come out than major updates from back then, even if they barely add anything new. But okay, the game not getting updated as frequently as it was in the past isn't the end of the world. As I've mentioned before, the game is very much driven by community-made content, everyone knows that. The problem is that the level rating system just sucks. As it is right now, the only person that can rate levels (to make levels give out stars upon completion) is RobTop. That's it. When the game was smaller this wasn't as bad, because there weren't as many levels being submitted. But now that the game has grown bigger, so has the amount of new levels. What would be the best solution to deal with this huge amount of newly submitted levels? If you thought of getting a team of people to go through them and rate them so that the main developer could focus on working on the game, congratulations, you have picked the rational option! But RobTop is anything but rational. He always wants to do everything himself, to be fully in charge at all times. So his genius solution: let the moderators only be able to send the levels to him, so that he's got a curated list of levels to either rate or not. Nobody in the community likes this system. This makes it so hard for first time creators to get their levels rated, which is problematic, considering that one of the Steam achievements for this game is to get a star rated level. Not to mention that the rate standards have also gone up. RobTop always being in charge also creates division between him and the community. There are always levels which people in the community unanimously agree should get rated, but RobTop refuses, only rating it much later out of spite, or levels which RobTop rates, but the community agrees that it should never have been rated. RobTop also just can not take criticism. He has been criticized for both of the things I've mentioned here numerous times, but never properly addressed any of it or took the steps to resolve them. Instead he would, on rare occasions when he directly interacts with his community, just throw snarky remarks to I guess look cool in front of the kids and get on 'RobTop being a savage part n' compilations on YouTube Shorts. Well, never until today (2026-09-15), as RobTop finally stepped up, and addressed the horrible rate system in place. He finally allowed the moderators to rate the levels themselves, on top of expanding the mod team... not. Yeah as I've mentioned, RobTop is anything but rational. He instead cut the mod team even further and renamed moderators to 'rate advisors', without changing the rate system whatsoever. And worst of all, many people that were removed were some of the biggest voices in the Geometry Dash Community. This single event is what drove me to write this review, to finally vent out my frustrations with RobTop. He deserves all the hate he's getting for this change and so much more. TL;DR, Love the game, absolutely despise the creator.
developer demoted more than half of his mods while having a crazy child safety problem
The game has become a hotbed of negativity and ped*philia. please keep your children away from it. The developer and his assistants that moderate this game clearly support this and have no intention of doing anything about it.
