genuine, heartfelt, lovely gaming experience. great team-building exercises and puzzle-solving. during any and all moments where my fate was in my girlfriend's delicate palms, all manner of cruel, unusual, torturous tribulations were mercilessly delivered unto my fragile person. 8.5/10 (1.5 points docked for psychological scarring).
This game was so well done The meld of the the story switching between the two fictions and all the abilities is a real show of love put into this game It was very ambitious and i hope this makes others follow bring new things to the gaming world This game is a 10/10
Just like It Takes Two & No Way Out - it's a fantastic co-op game with some of the most beautiful graphics and stunning set pieces for a game I think I've ever seen. It's an automatic recommend because who doesn't love killing their duo multiple times.. because I do :) 9/10
My kids play this game, not me. I like their laugh and chatter while playing this.
Felt like It Takes Two but worse. First off, the story is UNBELIEVABLY hoaky, like Creative Writing 101 student assignment tier. And the gameplay both fails to live up to It Takes Two and also fails to improve on any of its flaws. Most apparent and most unfortunate is that is zero reason to ever explore. There is nothing there, anywhere. Just go straight ahead, over and over. The actual *fun* moments are so few and few between, maybe every 30 minutes of play you get 5-10 minutes of decent platforming, 10+ minutes of excruciating story, and another 10 minutes of running around with very little going on. It's just not worth the time.
they just re released "It Takes Two" with different mechanics and different people. But the Story is Weak af. "I don't like you" and "I don't like you," but "we both hate this company because they're stealing our ideas and capitalism is bad, so we have to work together" and at the end of the story "oh, we like each other now, lets take on the big bad." this game would've gone so much harder if it wasn't shoving "capitalism is bad" in your face. if it was more subtle the entire game, then concluded with them finding out their ideas were getting stolen and doing something about it, the story would feel more real to IRL companies. Instead of "evil corporation is evil" also. EA
For a game that likes to crash every 45 mins, or so, I appreciate that the unskippable intro allows me to direct my ire to the right parties, thanks Hazelight, EA and Unreal. From a story perspective the game is ironically (given the theme) the most shallow writing of any game I've played in a long time. Normally a game like this I'd actually be excited for the next part of plot advancement but this one I'm just praying for the shallow and obvious conversations to end.
I’m really surprised by the overwhelmingly positive reviews of this game. It’s decent enough, but nowhere near outstanding. My biggest complain about it is .. the story and characters. For a game that focuses on creativity and how important is to have your own ideas - it just falls flat in that regard. There are some GREAT moments here, spread thin across a sea of mediocrity. Maybe if the 20hour story would be trimmed, I would enjoy it more. Less filler, more meat on the bones! Game is really dragging in the last few hours and it completely ruins the experience. You’ll be hoping that maybe next level will have some new mechanic or a gimmick that the game doesn’t recycle.. You’ll be hoping the story gets engaging. Spoiler, it never does. Second thing - characters. Bland, using cliched language and mostly just a walking-talking stereotypes. Nothing the protagonists say has any weight. You will find yourself skipping dialogue constantly. Bad writing gets on my nerves especially. I know it’s an “action game” and not a drama, but it does not mean I should suffer through cringe every time any main character opens its mouth. In the end, I had some fun, gameplay is mostly tight and fair… maybe excluding brain-dead puzzles that are here just to extend gameplay time. I mean, waste your time. In the other hand. my co-op partner got tired of the game somewhere in the half way mark and expressed great relief at the sight of credits rolling. I still would give Split Fiction a mild 5/10, but since there’s no “meh” option on Steam - no recommendation.
