I don't play multiplayer games anymore so I was really excited when the single player version of Dune:Awakening was released. I have been playing for about 20 hours and have barely scratched the surface of all the content. The devs have allowed single players to totally customize the game so it is balanced for them. I am 77 and don't have the abilities or reflexes of a younger player. I was easily able to adjust the difficulty of all the various things in the game to match my skill set. This allows solo players to make the game much easier or much harder. Brilliant! There are many quests and contracts to carry out. Rewards include skills and talents. The skill trees have many options and the talents unlock research which allows crafting/building of the items unlocked. It is a great system and works well. The desert is a brutal place and most people you come across (all AI in single player), shoot you as soon as they see you. The ai enemies have good aim and seemingly unending firepower. Traversing the terrain can be done on foot, on a ground vehicle and eventually on a flying machine. There are many difficulties when travelling. The giant sandworm is a major difficulty and I was very happy to be able to turn off the sandworm and the storms. There are factions you can join, merchants you can shop with, ornithopter taxi services, etc. etc. Base building is fun and you can design pretty fancy bases. There are a variety of crafting machines and they require power. I am sure there will be even more to learn and take care of as the game progresses. I highly recommend this game to anyone who likes survival games.
They finally added Single Player, this revived the game for me as I couldn't care less about multiplayer. Finally no more ugly bases blocking the paths, and the world being lonely and desolate, as it should be. 10/10
You like Dune? You'll like this. You love Dune? You'll love this. Yes, the endgame and the pvp are wack, but you can get 50-100h of great gameplay before having to care about either. So if you want at least 100 hours of Dune flavored fun, get this. Also, as someone who read the book, this is incredibly detailed and really gets it right. It's beautiful.
So, Dune Awakening is probably one of my best Survival RPGs out there today. The building is intuitive and forgiving. The graphics and design of the models make it visually pleasing. The game's first 100 hours will have you hooked as the game takes you along a journey to end game. The story will keep you interested, and the survival aspects will have you engaged and immersed in the world. The negative this game received in 2025 was the developers failed to address immediate end game issues and balancing of their end game content, or lack thereof. However, with September 22nd 2026's update, many improved quality of life changes will begin. The end of the Book One series of story telling wraps up in Chapter 4. At the time of this post, I have logged 1700+ hours in the game so suffice to say I got my money's worth. Anyone that hesitates on this game is truly doing themselves an injustice. I hope that this game can last 10 years and see many more improvements and experiences.
Ok I love that this game finally, officially has a single player mode. That being said I should *not* have to download Battle Eye if I *only* intend to play in single player mode! I do NOT want that nonsense on my computer! There needs to be some way to opt out of multiplayer or something when you install the game so you aren't forced to download this crap along with the game. If people want to play multiplayer they can uninstall and reinstall and select that as an option.
I played the game for the building. Then I found out that there are 2 different building limitations. One they tell you: You can only have 5 upgrades to the horizontal and vertical space of the base. That's fine, so I figure I'll work within the confines of that. Then, after weeks of building an awesome base you hit the limit that they hide in your fief console that no one looks at. 5000 building pieces. That's it. It doesn't go up if you fill up your staking units either. So here I am without max staking units unable to finish my base, which I have spent weeks building, because of conflicting building limitations that are not properly communicated. But ♥♥♥♥ me I guess. Somehow that's MY problem.
DO NOT RECOMMEND. No system to get back solari($) or lost items if you clip through the map. You can play for hundreds of hours and have your stuff vanish like that. They have no systems to get it back!! Claimed spice through welcome back package, saved up 500$ to go to Arakeen, sold the spice, got 130K from the purchase. Went straight to pinnacle station and then clipped through the map as I was leaving. This is incredibly frustrating because I lost my only starting money after having previous played for hundreds of hours. Funcom Ticket #312607 - Screenshot of me clipped through the map provided ------------------------------------------------ ### Do not reply below this line ### Archie T. September 24, 2026, 03:34 +0000 Hi, Sleeper Thanks for reaching out! I’m really sorry to hear about what happened. I understand how frustrating it must be to finally build up 130K Solari after returning to the game, only to lose it after falling through the map. Unfortunately, due to limitations with our support tools, we’re unable to restore or reimburse lost Solari. I know this is especially disappointing given that you had just acquired it by selling your Spice. Please submit a bug report through the in game Bug Report option and include as much detail as possible about where you fell through the map, what you were doing immediately beforehand, and the amount of Solari that was lost. Screenshots or video of the issue would also be helpful if available. Please note that you will not receive a direct reply from the development team through the bug report. Instead, they gather information from reports and look for patterns to help identify and resolve issues. I’m sorry we cannot restore the lost Solari in this case, but reporting the issue will help the team investigate the map problem and prevent similar incidents from affecting other players. Regards, Archie Funcom Support -----------------------------------------
First day playing I log back in to find out all my equipped gear vanished.. no big deal, kind of annoying. Second day I log back in to see that all my base walls are gone, leaving everything else just inaccessibly floating in the air. Typical anti-funcom server quality experience and lack of accountable support.
